Study : Men Like Women Who Resemble Their Moms

According to a new study conducted in Finland, men are more likely to marry women who resemble their mothers. Researchers compared photos of 70 married couples’ parents and significant others to come to this conclusion. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that boys are looking for mom-replacements, whether it’s a woman who cooks like mom, cleans like mom or micromanages like mom. Who knew they also wanted to marry someone who literally looks like their mom?
Imagine a woman were to meet her boyfriend’s mom and she looked just like her; how uncomfortable would that be for both parties? Then, there would be the aftermath: it would sink in that he probably views his woman more as a caretaker than an object of sexual attraction. Which begs the question: when men are finally ready to settle down, do they switch gears? Is it more about nurturing and less about partnership or are they two sides of the same token?

8 Secret Things about Marriage that Couples Should Know

1. Girls, are you ready to imitate your mother-in-law?

Immediately after marriage, your doting boyfriend vanishes. He now wants you to imbibe his mother’s qualities. Get ready to cook, care and run the house like her. You are compared to your mother-in-law and unknowingly you two are put up to compete with each other, time and again.

2. Husbands are you ready to pick sides?

Sometimes situations will crop up when you would have to make a decision whether to agree with your mother or your wife. Both these ladies play an important role in your life, but once you give your opinion, get ready to be emotionally tortured, forever. Don’t expect any help from your father. He has already learnt his lesson in vanishing from the scene.

3. You are his new nanny!

After marriage, the husband’s family expects the newly-wed 'bahu' to change the bad habits of her husband overnight. It is like his parents got him married so that they can wash their hands off his responsibility. Duh, what were the parents doing all these years?

4. Reveal your expenses but never ask hers

After marriage, be ready to give a detailed expense report to your wife. You might have to give a complete power point presentation as well! But remember while you are giving details of every rupee you spend, you can never dare to question your wife’s expenditures. Learn this mantra that she strongly believes your money is hers and her money is hers, only.

5. Gender equality is kept out of the kitchen

The traditional perception of women managing the house remains unchanged even in this modern age. Your husband gets applauded even if he attempts to toast a piece of bread and burns it, while your hard work would be labelled as your duty.

6. She tells her mom, everything!

Husbands get prepared to find out that your mother-in-law knows about each and every aspect of your married life. Your wife shares all tits and bits with her mother. But don’t even think about doing the same, because if she gets to know that you share details with your family, you will never hear the end of it!

7. His parents are family, yours are just guests

Girls, after marriage you take care of your in-laws just like your own family, but your parents will remain guests in your husband's home. You are expected to play the role of an ideal daughter to your in-laws, whereas your husband always remains a 'jamai raja' for your family.

8. Arguments never take a rational path

Arguments are common when two different beings are staying together. To satisfy his inherent male ego, your husband will need to have the last word in any argument. While to satisfy your wife’s emotional needs, husbands should be the first one to apologise.

Every Woman Wants Her Man to…

Every woman wants a man who’s honest, committed, loving, understanding, etc… but that’s not it! There is a lot more women expect their men to know.  Here are 5 things that every woman secretly expects her partner to know…
1) The Basics of Cooking
You need not be Sanjeev Kapoor but if you know the basics of cooking like making tea/coffee, rice, dal, soup, healthy snacks, etc you’ll never be in trouble. If your woman is in no mood to cook someday, you can enter the kitchen and make her feel special.
2) Know Driving
Yes, we all know women are good drivers (we mean it!) But there are some who may not be very confident at driving and that’s when they expect their partner to have good driving skills. Women love going on long drives. Doesn’t matter which car you own. All you need to know is how to drive, if you really want to set an impression on your woman.
3) Be Organised
Running the house, cooking, doing the dishes, keeping the house clean, etc is not just a woman’s job. She expects her man to take equal interest when it comes to household chores. If not everyday, at least over the weekends when you’re home.
4) Be Technologically Sound
Most men love gadgets! If you have a technical mind, you are going to be called a Genius by your partner. But being a technical disaster won’t work. The fact is, not all women have great knowledge about gadgets and so they expect their partner to understand it well.  You at least need to know how to change a bulb, tube light, save your computer from viruses and pop-ups.
5) Be a Health Freak
You might be a samosa, vada pav fan, but women prefer men who are conscious about what they eat. Of course, you can enjoy your unhealthy deep-fried food once in a while but not always. Most women today are health conscious and they expect their partner to follow the same diet. So, forget your cheese, butter and sugar on a daily basis. Apart from that women love men who take up a fitness activity to stay fit. If not anything else, you could just go for your morning walks.

Mehndi Ceremony

Among the many traditions that are infused into Indian weddings, especially in kerela wedding  one of the most prominent is the mehndi ceremony. This is the day when mehndi is applied on the hands and feet of the bride and even the groom. While the bride has a very elaborate pattern done on her hands and feet, the groom usually has just a token design. Mehndi is a very important part of both Hindu and Muslim weddings in India. In fact, application of mehndi is a custom during any celebration in India, be it Karva Chaut, Teej, Diwali, Ramzan or any other festival.

Beliefs associated with mehndi

It is a common belief that the darker the color the mehndi leaves on the hands on a bride, the more will she be loved by her husband and mother-in-law. However, the significance of applying mehndi during weddings is not restricted just to sentiments and beliefs. Although these beliefs make the application of mehndi a much anticipated and charming tradition, the actual reason is of much deeper significance, which is sometimes forgotten in the present day.
